I remember when we first started EPIC EVERYDAY. We were adamant about how we wanted to focus on diversity from within. Diversity among representative characters showing the variety of skin shades, hair textures, and style familiar in our culture. We were fed up with seeing the same princess and handful of melanated images. Not to mention our brown boys were even more limited in positive images seen on apparel, home goods, and accessories. The lack of true inclusion is the reason we intentionally wanted to change the narrative.
